FK/IK Switching:
Matching IK to FK
Exploit the “translation� abilities of constraints
The easy part:
- Each FK limb carries a copy of the control object
- Copy has same pivot & local orientation as the original
- Step by step IK > FK script:
- Duplicate IK control (in same space as original)
- Point & orient constrain duplicate to FK limb's copy
- Copy duplicate's xform values over to original control
- Delete duplicate
Repeat for all IK controls (eg, world & body space)
