Key Concept:
IK Control Groups
Control groups = multiple functions in one control
- Effectors parented or constrained to controls
- Typically, position and orientation
- Sometimes, position & pole vector
- Pivots and parent spaces can modify IK behavior
“Double IK
- A second IK handle drives the extremity
- Pro: Automatic pointing behavior
- Con: Awkward with multiple joints in extremity ; imprecise
Orient Constraints
- Pro: Exactly predictable behavior
- Con: No seeking; mechanical breaks in hyperextension
